Ex-player Javi Martínez moves to Qatar

Javi Martínez won nine championships and five cup wins with FC Bayern, among others. After the past season, however, it was over for the Spaniard. His new employer has now been determined.

Javi Martínez is apparently joining the Qatari first division soccer club Qatar SC from Doha. The long-time professional from Bayern Munich announced this on social media. “Hello everyone, my Qatar Sports friends, I’m happy to announce that I’ll be seeing you very, very soon. Stay tuned,” said the 32-year-old in a video.

Previously, the Spaniard has been linked with a return to his home club Athletic Bilbao. However, this failed for financial reasons.

Martínez’s contract with Bayern, with whom he won the triple twice, had expired. Qatar SC, who are sixth in the table last season, are planning a new start with him. The club had previously signed Brazilian Ze Ricardo as their new coach.
