European Table Tennis Championships – All Belgians eliminated in singles – Belga

All Belgian players were eliminated in the first round of singles at Euro Table Tennis on Thursday in Warsaw, Poland. There are still two doubles left.

In men’s singles, Martin Allegro lost in seven sets against the Polish Jakub Dyjas, 9-11, 9-11, 11-9, 6-11, 12-10, 11-2, 11-4. Cédric Nuytinck lost 4-2 (13-11, 3-11, 8-11, 12-10, 11-8, 11-9) against the Czech Lubomir Jancarik. Robin Devos could not do anything against the Romanian Ovidiu Ionescu, winner 11-3, 11-4, 11-4, 12-10. In women’s singles, Lisa Lung and Nathalie Marchetti lost in the first round, respectively the French Marie Migot (11-5, 11-8, 11-4, 9-11, 14-12) and the Romanian Daniela Monteiro Dodean ( 11-4, 14-12, 11-2, 14-12). In men’s doubles, the Belgians obtained two out of three qualifications for the second round. Florent Lambiet and Martin Allegro dominated 3-0 (11-3, 11-4, 11-7) Belarusians Pavel Platonov and Gleb Shamruk. Victory without losing a set (11-3, 12-10, 11-9) also for Cédric Nuytinck and his Polish partner Jakub Dyjas, against the French Can Akkuzu and Andrea Landrieu. Robin Devos and Pole Marek Badowski were beaten 3-1 (11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 15-13) by Portuguese Joao Geraldo and Diogo Carvalho. In women’s doubles, Lisa Lung and Margo Degraef were eliminated in the first round by Hungarians Szandra Pergel and Leila Imre 3-0 (11-7, 11-9, 11-3). Nathalie Marchetti and her Czech partner Katerina Tomanovska suffered the same fate with an early elimination against Luxembourgers Ni Xia Lian and Sarah De Nutte 3-1 (11-8, 11-6, 7-11, 14-12 ).
