Euro – Denmark
Unbeaten during the playoffs, Kasper Hjulmand’s men are carrying around a nice head of spoilers on this Euro. Thanks to its stars Kasper Schmeichel, Simon Kjaer or Christian Eriksen. Thanks to four pretty nuggets, above all. Presentation.
Joakim Mæhle. Defender. 24 years.
Mikkel Damsgaard. Environment. 20 years.
The Swiss Army Knife. One of the most talented young players in the country. Without anyone to come and challenge the assertion. Able to play striker, ten, left winger, right winger and even more behind in the middle, the Danish Swiss Army Knife quickly established himself as an indisputable holder in Claudio Ranieiri’s eleven at Sampdoria (Editor’s note: he got there in start of the 2020-21 season). In just a few weeks, the boy has put Serie A in his pocket. “Damsgaard is a child prodigy”, recently said of him the former coach of AS Monaco and FC Nantes. José Mourinho, new coach of Roma, also chained the praises about the young player, during a recent interview. Compared to Michael Laudrup at home, he should leave as a starter in the coach’s eleven. For his second selection last March, he planted two goals, offered two assists against Moldova (8-0) and impressed the whole country with his maturity. Follow very closely.
Andreas Skov Olsen. Environment. 21 years
The artist. The wounds could have ruined his existence. At 13, he underwent a hip intervention which forced him to no longer touch a ball for a year and a half. Last October, during a match with the national team, he collapsed after an ugly tackle, which fractured his lumbar vertebrae. Nothing, however, will prevent the boy from shining. In Denmark, he remains the player under 20 who has scored the most goals in a season (22 in 2019 with FC Nordsjaelland). Fan of Arjen Robben and Neymar, whose technical gestures he admits to being inspired by videos YouTube, he shines on the side of Bologna in Italy for two seasons. Equally at ease with the right foot than with the left foot, specialist in overflow on the right side with return to the axis and striking left foot to follow, Olsen already has three goals in six selections with the national team and offers a valuable offensive solution to the coach Kasper Hjulmand, fan of the player.
Jonas Wind. Attacker. 22 years old.
Olivier Bossard
