Euro 2021: Czechs confirm, Croatia in danger

Obviously Croatia is not yet eliminated. His last Group D match, against Scotland, may see him qualify. But, despite everything, with only one point obtained this Friday against the Czech Republic (1-1), the finalists of the 2018 World Cup are in danger. And again: fortunately Perisic equalized after the opening scoring of Patrick Schick.

What you must remember

Beaten by England for their entry into the competition, Croatia had to revive against the Czechs. But Luka Modric, even though he was named man of the match, was unable to lead his partners to victory in Glasgow.

In a closed meeting, the Czechs first took the advantage on a penalty obtained and succeeded by Patrick Schick after resorting to the VAR to see the illegal elbow from Dejan Lovren (1-0, 37th). Taking advantage of a lack of vigilance on the part of the Czech defense, the Croats equalized when they returned from the locker room thanks to a powerful strike from Perisic (1-1, 47 ‘). The last and rare opportunity of the match was for them but the pivotal strike from Petkovic (89th) was deflected for a corner.

The player: Patrick Schick

The Czech striker had already scored a brace in the first match against Scotland (2-0) including an incredible lob. This Friday, he scored on a penalty, his nose bleeding after Lovren’s nudge which left him on the ground, seriously affected. With three goals, he is at the top of the scorers’ standings.

The number: 1

With just one point in two games, Croatia are in danger. While waiting for the result of England – Scotland, the Croats know that their salvation will only pass by a success during their last meeting against Scotland next Tuesday, at Hampden Park.
