Euro 2020/2021: Poland – Slovakia: date, time and where to watch on television

Poland and Slovakia meet in what will be the first match of group E of the Eurocup. They will do it before Spain and Sweden, their other rivals to get into the round of 16.

The Poles consider that victory is a must at the start of their fourth consecutive European Championship if they want to have the option of qualifying and repeating the remarkable performance of 2016, when they reached the quarterfinals and lost on penalties to Portugal, ultimately champion. With the difficulty of the duel in warm Seville against Spain on the horizon, the three points against a rival in the disguise of ‘Cinderella’ are necessary. Lewandowski, endorsed by his 66 goals in 119 appearances for his country, is the key man of a team in which Portugal’s Paulo Sousa, appointed coach in January, has not had the desired time to convey his ideas to the players.

Slovakia is by potential the simplest a priori rival of those that Spain will find in group E, but this does not mean that it stops posing a certain danger. The very history of confrontations between the two teams serves as a warning, as a surprising and painful defeat in Zilina (2-1) in October 2014, at the beginning of the qualification for the European Championship in France 2016, reopened the recent injury of the World Cup in Brazil, an unfortunate memory.
