Emelec stadium, Ecuador, proposed for Cali vs Tolima duel, quarterfinals, Betplay League | Colombian Soccer | Betplay League

Deportivo Cali has presented several options to Dimayor as the venue so that the second leg of the quarterfinals of the BetPlay I-2021 League can be played against Tolima, although so far there is no determination, more than a month away having played the first leg.

Well, this Monday the Valle del Cauca institution again raised the possibility of it being played in Guayaquil, at the George Capwell stadium, owned by Emelec, and given the current conditions of public order in Colombia, as well as the threats from some bars, including the Cali himself of not allowing it in the country, it is likely that this time there will be a positive response to allow the League to end.

The first-leg commitment in Ibagué was sealed with a 3-0 victory for the ‘vinotinto y oro’ team, but the team led by Alfredo Arias continues to work with the faith put in recovering it or at least equalizing it to go to the charges from the penalty spot.

It is worth remembering that apart from Palmaseca the stadiums of Cali, Bucaramanga, Pereira, Armenia, Tuluá, Barranquilla, Envigado, Cartagena, Montería and also the George Capwell, of Guayaquil, have been placed on the folder.

A ‘sugar’ manager told FUTBOLRED that “as I had said a few days ago, we ourselves suggested that stadium and we did it again to see what happens, because here in the country the issue is not easy.”

There is no doubt that this has been a headache for Dimayor, which must be resolved promptly. Although Guayaquil is a nearby city with several venues for soccer practice, it could also host the semifinals and final of the Colombian championship, something that would have Dimayor thinking seriously so as not to delay the development of the contest.

Apart from George Capwell, in that Ecuadorian port are the Monumental Isidro Romero Carbo, headquarters of Barcelona -the largest in the neighboring country- and the Alberto Spencer Model.
