Elvismar Rodríguez will have his second Olympic experience in Tokyo

Elvismar Rodríguez was confirmed as the 38th athlete of the Venezuelan delegation on the way to the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.

Rodríguez will be the third national judo athlete to attend the Japanese event together with Anriquelis Barrios and Karen León.

Elvismar Rodríguez will seek to improve the 17th place in Rio 2016

The Guayanese judoka will attend her second adult Olympic Games, after her experience in Rio 2016 where she finished 17. Rodríguez fell in her first match against the Angolan Antonio Moreira.

Rodríguez wins a bronze medal at the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games, and at the age of 24 he joins Christian Quintero and Robeilys Peinado with two adult Olympic classifications and a youth presence, in the same universal sport event.

At the age of 24, Rodríguez reached gold at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games at -70 kilograms. In 2021, he accumulated third place in the Tashkent Grand Slam and the Antalya Grand Slam.

In Grand Slam competitions of the International Judo Federation, Rodríguez has 10 medals and 8 in Grand Prix-type jousts.

The Budapest World Cup, his last competition

In the recent Budapest 2021 Judo World Championship, Elvismar Rodríguez reached the third round, after passing the first fight by draw, defeating Elisavet Teltsidou of Greece by ippon in the golden score in the second and losing in the third round to the German Miriam Butkereit.
