El Salvador has 39 athletes classified to the I Junior Pan American Games to be held in Cali, Colombia – Diario La Página

El Salvador continues adding qualifiers for the I Junior Pan American Games that will take place from November 25 to December 5 in Cali, Colombia.

Salvadoran athletes, who are supported 100 percent by the National Institute of Sports of El Salvador (INDES), have to date 39 athletes classified, from 13 disciplines

This was confirmed by Douglas Gamero, head of the Federated Sports Department of INDES, who confirmed that “all athletes are being supported by INDES. Most have been supported with fires prior to their qualifying events and have had the financial backing of the institution ”.

The sports that have their insured ticket are bowling, with four places obtained in the qualifying by country, which took place in Medellín, Colombia. The selection to meet those who will make up the selection, will be carried out by the Salvadoran Bowling Federation (Fesabowl), in September.

In the same vein is badminton, which achieved the classification by country, after being in tenth place in the Pan-American ranking. The eliminatory event to meet the athletes who will compete in Cali will be held in August.

While basketball will participate in the 3 × 3 modality in the female and male branches.

For its part, in swimming, for the moment, the classified athletes are Celina Márquez, in the 100 m backstroke and 100 butterfly events, and Isabella Alas Chong in the 100 m freestyle. The Salvadoran Swimming Federation has confirmed that the deadline has been extended until August 22 for more athletes to search for the brand.

Meanwhile, in artistic swimming, the duet made up of Cesia Castaneda and Grecia Mendoza has already obtained their ticket.

Karate do will be represented by Andrea Ruiz in combat, in the -68 kg category.

In speed skating, Ivonne Nóchez, Haydee Barrios and Marvin Rodríguez will do it. In rowing, Ariana Townsend and Paola Águila will compete in the short row mode; while in table tennis, the classified youths are Diego Orantes, Cristina Machado and Gabriela Suárez.

Sports shooting will be represented by Milena Morales, Daniela Calderón and Andrés Barquero Vidal, pistol, and a wildcard is expected for Diego Santamaría, rifle. Meanwhile, in archery there are Paola Corado and Gerardo Rivas, in compound, and Kevin Mercado and Marcela Cortes, by recurve.

While in triathlon, those who have their safe ticket are Anderson Posada and Helen Portillo, who will compete in the lands and waters of Cali.

In fights the classified is Jacqueline Hernández, in the 57 kilograms category.

Gamero also assured that the deadline for qualifying events is until October, the month in which federations such as swimming, athletics and tennis will have the last opportunity to search for places.

Sports pending for their qualifying event are weightlifting, cycling, track and field, squash, gymnastics, judo and boxing.
