Dimitrov and Isner top list of players who will play Los Cabos Open

The tournament will take place from July 19 to 24 without the public in the stands at the Los Cabos resort, located in the state of Baja California Sur.

The Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, 21 in the ATP ranks, and the American John Isner, number 33, topped the list released this Tuesday of the tennis players who will play the Los Cabos Open 2021.

Dimitrov and Isner stood out among the 19 participants announced to the ATP 250 tournament, as they are both winners of 1,000 Masters; the Bulgarian conquered Cincinnati in 2017, and the American won Miami in 2018.

The fifth edition of the contest will have other players among the 50 best in the world, the British Cameron Norrie (34), the American Taylor Fritz (36), the Frenchman Adrian Mannarino (42) and the American Sebastian Korda (50).

The Latinos who will compete in the Open will be the Argentine Guido Pella, 59 of the ATP, and the Colombian Daniel Galán, located in position 112.

The tournament will take place from July 19 to 24 without the public in the stands at the Los Cabos resort, located in the state of Baja California Sur.

The Los Cabos Open could not be held in 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic, so the 2021 edition will mark the return to activity with a prize pool of $ 598,545.

In 2021, the Mexican tournament will open a new venue, the Cabo Sports Complex, which boasts a stadium with capacity for 3,500 spectators.

The Los Cabos Open was inaugurated in 2016, when the Croatian Ivo Karlovic won the final against the Spanish Feliciano López, after which the American Sam Querrey was crowned in 2017; the Italian Fabio Fognini, in 2018; and the Argentine Diego Schwartzman, in 2019.

Los Cabos will be held prior to the ATP 500 in Washington and the 1,000 Masters in Toronto and Cincinnati, so several tennis players will take the contest as a preparation for the tour that precedes the last Grand Slam of the year, the United States Open, of the August 30 to September 12.
