Dayana Yastremska’s provisional doping suspension lifted

The provisional doping suspension of Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska has been lifted with immediate effect, an independent court said on Tuesday as part of the tennis anti-doping program. Following a May 21 hearing, the court said on Tuesday that it “Accepted Ms. Yastremska’s account of how mesterolone got into her body and determined that she was not at fault or neglect for this violation.” “She will not serve any period of suspension”, said the ITF, the International Tennis Federation.

“I have been through a lot in the past six months and it has been difficult to cope with all the negative comments”

Due to this suspension, the 37th player in the world was unable to participate in the Australian Open, even though she had traveled to Melbourne. She also missed Roland Garros and will not play at Wimbledon – where she reached eighth in 2019 – which begins on Monday.

« I am happy and relieved to report that I have been cleared of any wrongdoing, Yastremska said on Twitter. I have been through a lot over the past six months and it has been difficult to cope with all the negative comments. »

The decision can be appealed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Ukrainian Anti-Doping Agency to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
