Davis Cup: Piqué ‘gives’ the Copa América to Ibai and Llanos will give visibility to his Davis among young people

No operator has made an interesting offer to obtain the rights to the matches, so CONMEBOL has not been able to make profitable the sale of these rights in our country. In fact, the competition started with a single agreement with Galician Television for the matches to be seen in their region. However, with the competition already started (Argentina and Brazil have already played two group stage matches), Ibai Llanos has made public that all Copa América matches can be seen live and for free on his Twich channel.

A win-win option

Behind this news appear Kosmos and Piqué, who they have taken over the rights with the competition already started. That has allowed them to buy them at a falling price, but at least CONMEBOL can enter some money for these rights for which it no longer had expectations of entering anything. Why is Kosmos betting on it? The company turns the purchase into an opportunity and, after it has been placed on the Catalan automatic channel (TV3), they contact Ibai Llanos to set up a novel communication strategy in which they gain visibility within a niche that they need to conquer, that of young people who seem little interested in sports content according to the latest studies.

Everyone wins with the operation. CONMEBOL has found unexpected money and a visibility that it did not have in a channel that has never bothered to exploit. Ibai Llanos, who has more negotiations with Piqué pending to be closed, finds himself with exclusive content to offer on his channel, which allows him to continue increasing his audience.

And finally, Kosmos and Piqué put their content on Twitch and they are associated with the prescribing figure of Ibai Llanos, which also allows them to take advantage of the broadcasts to talk about the Davis Cup organized by the Barça player. Thus, it gains the ability to penetrate a ‘target’, that of young people with a digital profile, who could not be reached from the conventional channels on which the Copa América or football was televised.
