Two Bundesliga professionals packed their bags at the EM on Thursday to fly home. Bayern star Kingsley Coman has already become a dad. Gladbach’s keeper Yann Sommer traveled to his heavily pregnant wife.

Kingsley Coman had to watch the EM game against Germany for 90 minutes from the bench. On the evening of the 1-0 victory, the French technician was probably somewhere else with his thoughts anyway. As the association of France announced after consultation with Uefa, the 25-year-old left the European championship quarters of the world champions in Budapest on Thursday. The sweet reason: Coman’s partner gave birth to the couple’s first child. The French around the superstars Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann will meet on Saturday (kick-off 3 p.m.) in their second group game against EM co-hosts Hungary. It was initially not known whether Coman would return to the team.

Summer leaves the Swiss EM quarters

And another experienced Bundesliga professional is looking forward to adding to the family. Gladbach’s keeper Yann Sommer escaped quickly from the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Wednesday evening, not only because of the painful 3-0 defeat against outstanding Italians. His wife Alina is expecting their second child in the next few days. The 32-year-old wants to be there when the girl is born. The couple already has a one and a half year old daughter and lives in Düsseldorf.

As summer club Borussia Mönchengladbach announced, the Swiss number one could be back in the national team’s goal in the last and possibly decisive group game against Turkey next Sunday (June 20th / 6pm). Because of the strict corona measures, it was initially questionable whether the European Football Association Uefa would give the green light for a return to the so-called bubble. According to the Swiss team doctor Martin Malek, Sommer is one of the players who have already been vaccinated twice.
