Clippers, the forecasts of the editorial staff: it leans towards Utah, but some are starting to believe in the Tyronn Lue effect (no)

Ding dong, it’s time for the predictions. The Game 1 of the series between the Jazz and the Clippers is scheduled for tonight so it’s time to get started. Rather Utah? Rather Kawhi Leonard and his friends? In 6? In 7? In 8? Lets’ go. You can screen, but on condition that you get wet in the comments too.

Huge shock that this Jazz – Clippers, between two teams capable, for different reasons, to go to the end of these Playoffs. Very difficult for me to position myself, my heart swings between my official bracket (Clippers champions) and my heart of Saint-Quentinois (no), but we will therefore go on a new Game 7 for the Clippers, and for a new… victory from the Clippers to Game 7. I am announcing an exceptional series of Donovan Mitchell, you speak of an Oracle, a dominating Rudy Gobert against the Californian semi-interiors, but once again a Kawhi Leonard much too robotic. “Draw” complicated for a Jazz who deserved better in view of his perfect regular season, but among the known theorems in the NBA Game there is this one: Kawhi Leonard in Playoffs = 80% chance of getting your butt kicked. The Clippers were very hot in the first round against the Mavericks and did not go far from a new choke. But strangely, I have more confidence in them now, because they have shown that they know how to respond to adversity under the impetus of an enormous Kawhi Leonard. And often, when we come close to the catamaran, this is where we go one step further. Against the XXL collective of Utah, I think the Clips have what it takes to compete on both sides of the field, especially that friend Mike Conley has a sore ischio. In outside defense it can be very serious and there will be no Luka Doncic to channel this time around, which is rather good news for Los Angeles. What if the whole team step-up offensively behind Kawhi as in Game 7 on Sunday, Tyronn Lue’s men will be able to impose their game in order to finally reach the first conf ‘final in their history. Enough laughs, or rather, if this was just the beginning? After a series with an incredible scenario that gasped us during this first round, the Clippers put it back in the face of the best record of the regular season. If Tyronn Lue’s logic holds true, the Jazz will therefore start with the disadvantage of the field. But beware of the Mormons who have been waiting for this moment for a long time, namely to arrive in a big playoffs confrontation in the costume of the favorite. We saw in the first round that Rudy Gobert and his friends were focused, regular and diligent. Quite the opposite of Angelinos who have often been distracted by a Slovenian stand-upper. This time, they will not have this margin of error and I bet on the seriousness of Jazz to give a lesson in realism to the Clippers. To reassure them, this time at least, we will not be able to talk about choke. It’s always taken as they say. Jazz 4 – Clippers 2

A franchise that has never seen the color of a Conference Final, the other which has been waiting since 2007 to return to the last duo from the West: no doubt, there will be a breeze of freshness on this series between two teams which will ultimately not be so far in terms of level. The tactical adjustments will be particularly followed and in particular the choice to keep, or not, the five small ball for LA On the one hand, you can force Rudy Gobert to have to go out to sea (and therefore to leave his favorite area) and to do it. other, you risk taking a differential of twenty rebounds at the end of the game. The Clippers have more talent but they also have more pressure on their shoulders. The Jazz have attacked these Playoffs as seriously as the regular and they will have the advantage of freshness (and ground) over their opponents. The presence of Kawhi and PG inevitably makes you want to bet on the Clippers but like KD, I will leave my comfort zone and bet on the Jazz to believe in a real turning point in 2021. You can’t choke a 3-1 lead… when you’re not leading 3-1, that might be the saying for the Clippers in this series. So OK, Kawhi and PG’s pals intend to repair the affronts of 2015 and 2020, where they left a monumental braking mark in their calabard, but the collective strength of Jazz still seems too strong this year. Rudy Gobert will play the control towers, Donovan Mitchell and Bojan Bogdanovic will ensure the scoring. And when the Clippers think they are done when these two Zouaves go on the bench, it is Jordan Clarkson and Joe Ingles who will take over to come in from brainless shots and swing 2-3 punchlines as we like them. In Utah, danger comes everywhere, all the time. Kawhi Leonard will have to be stratospheric to pass the obstacle Jazz and Nicolas Batum will have the opportunity to play elite defenders, but this victory, in my opinion, will be that of the Salt Lake City collective. Sorry Clipps, are we putting a coin back next year in that damn lint machine where the clamps always loosen at the end? Jazz 4 – Clippers 2

A still daring pronouncement, I am sorry to be used to the fact. But, for me, the Clippers are going to be a little blunted by their series against the Dallas Doncic who did more than give them a hard time and pushed them to their limits. The Jazz, during this time, was able to prepare well and have a good rest. I agree with my namesake in the editorial on the fact that there is more talent on the Clippers side but also more pressure, which is why I do not even see the Clippers exist for long. That won’t stop Kawhi from being transcendent at one point or another, but it won’t stop Rudy from clearing the circle either. Donovan Mitchell on fire, Jordan Clarkson in sixth man mode, Bojan Bogdanovic in the corner and it will do it without problem for the Jazz, who will finally taste their first Conference Finals since 2007. Jazz 4 – Clippers 1

Hard to judge these Clippers after this somewhat incredible first round. Tyronn Lue’s men will not be fresh to start this series and I think his long first round could cost the Clippers dearly at the end of the series. But do the Jazz really have the offensive weapons to beat Los Angeles? Hard to answer it frankly and Utah will need a Mike Conley as strong and invested as against Memphis to claim to snatch victories. Jordan Clarkson could be the biggest X factor of this series, in my opinion, the Jazz will inevitably snatch their victories by winning the matchup of the second unit. Even though the Clippers have a real armada on the bench, I think Quin Snyder’s use will be smarter and more efficient than Lue’s. Rick Carlisle with a shallower roster managed to cause the Californian technician a good headache, I think you could see similar patterns in this series. Another big tactical point: the match-up between pivot. Rudy Gobert is going to eat the inside Clippers and he could well rack up the performances at over 20 points and 15 rebounds. Vigilance under the baskets for the Clippers. For me, the rigor and confidence on the Utah side will take precedence over the talent of the Clippers. Jazz 4 – Clippers 2

I fear for this Jazz which will surely not increase this year its list of awards described on Wikipedia as “nothing”. Even if the Clippers have the mind of a Thiago Silva and Utah looks ultra armored / confident / ready, the confidence with which the Game 7 Slips will emerge against Dallas will beat Salt Lake City. History and BleacherReport fans would too much want a Nets-Clippers in the Finals. Team À Tyronn Lue and not DE Tyronn Lue will finally reverse his mental weakness. A lot of optimism I know it sounds like my “Evan Fournier is finally going to shoot at 25ppg, Rudy will finally develop a respectable offensive game, that’s it Ben Simmons is going to have a three-point shot deadly”. Still a little afraid of course that The Klaw will drop the biggest posters of his life against Gobert. Even if I see these Clips winning this series, I still see a hell of a duel between the two teams that could go, why not we have the right to re-dream, in seven games. Jazz 3 – Clippers 4
