The vest of the Bundesliga baseball team Bonn Capitals remains white. However, especially in the second game against the Paderborn Untouchables, the success was on a knife’s edge. After game one, which the hosts won 8: 3 after a deficit, the team of head coach Max Schmidt made it exciting again after an 11: 2 lead. In the end, the Capitals won just under 11:10.
The Capitals got off to a bad start in the first game on Saturday evening. The German runner-up allowed three points in the first inning. Three mistakes in the infield defense and a Sascha Koch on the throwing hill, who unusually often let the batsman get to the ball, ensured an early 3-0 for the Untouchables. Only in the second inning did Koch show what he can do. The starting pitcher sent three batsmen from Paderborn back to the bench via strikeout.
But since the Bonn offensive had not yet found its way into the game, the fans in the stadium in the Rheinaue were worried about their team. But in the fourth inning, the Bonn offensive broke the knot. The initial spark came from a monster home run by Terrell Joyce, whose ball flew so far over the fence that it was no longer seen. “A ball to the moon,” the fans were amazed.

After Joyce, Lamb-Hunt also hits the fence
And immediately the next batsman, Daniel Lamb-Hunt, was rude and also hit the ball over the fence to make it 2: 3. Then Joe Wittig was hit by the ball and was allowed to go to first base without a fight before the next home run struck: Kevin van Meensel, after injury with his season debut, hit the next ball over the fence and the game was turned.
After hits by Danny Lankhorst, Lennart Weller and Vincent Ahrens, Lankhorst and Weller achieved points five and six for the Capitals. The Paderborn team changed pitcher twice in this inning – without success. The landlords now had the game under control. Maurice had taken over Wilhelm von Koch on the mound and kept the Untouchables in check, as did his replacement Noah Lindt and Nick Miceli, who impressively closed the sack on the mound.
Wilson Lee, the best batsman in this game, had previously increased to 7: 3 with the fourth home run of the day. Eric Brenk made the final score 8: 3.
