La formazione seniores, nel campionato di Serie C, riscatta la falsa partenza con il Sanremo vincendo il doppio impegno con le formazioni genovesi, in entrambe le gare per manifesta superiorità. Sempre sul diamante cairese buona prestazione della formazione Under 18 che strappa una importante vittoria con i pari età del Grizzlies Torino. I biancorossi si schierano con Bussetti e Davide Torterolo in batteria, Castagneto in prima base, Garra e Franchelli cerniera centrale, Buschiazzo in difesa dell’angolo caldo mentre in campo esterno Rozio, De Bon e Leoncini. Si parte alla grande con Garra e Franchelli in base spinti a punto dalle valide di Torterolo, Bussetti e Rozio per i primi tre punti. Al quinto inning il tabellone si muove e i piemontesi riacciuffano il risultato che recita 6 a 6, si cambia la batteria come da regolamento e tocca a Buschiazzo e Garra, mentre all’esterno subentra Ricchebuono.

Le due formazioni si fronteggiano a viso aperto sino alla fine degli inning regolamentari tanto che si deve ricorre al tie-break, dove diventa decisiva la bella giocata Davide De Bon-Garra che si conclude con l’eliminazione a casa base; in attacco altrettanto decisiva la smorzata di sacrificio di De Bon che diventa una valida e pesa sulla difesa piemontese che finisce per cedere. Doppio impegno anche per i cadetti dell’Under 15, che pur fuori classifica danno vita a due belle partite vincendo a Mondovì e a Sanremo con lo stesso copione: impeccabile prestazione di Chiarlone per quattro riprese sul monte in batteria con Mascarino, Bussetti in prima, Bogazzi in seconda base, Garra in interbase, in terza Buschiazzo e all’esterno Leoncini, Rozio e Petianu, che danno vita ad una difesa molto disciplinata nonostante le tante le soluzioni sperimentali dovute alle assenze. In attacco i soliti Garra, Bussetti, Buschiazzo e Mascarino hanno trascinato la squadra: da segnalare le valide di Petianu, sempre più a suo agio nel box di battuta. In Piemonte i biancorossi si impongono 4-13; sul campo dei matuziani per 8-12.

Cairo Montenotte. Busy week for Cairese, in the field on several fronts.
The senior training, in the championship of Series C, redeems the false start with Sanremo winning the double engagement with the Genoese formations, in both races for manifest superiority. In the midweek match against i Rookies the launchers department made up of Baisi and Gandolfo prepares a shutout closing the game on 13 to 0 in the seventh inning.
Another story was Sunday’s match against the Brothers, balanced at the beginning with Cairese always in advantage thanks to the good performance of the departing Castagneto and thanks to the choral pestation of the offensive department dragged by Ceppi, Marenco, Bellino and Ferruccio. Between the folds of the match stands out the splendid elimination in diving of the third base Bloise, while to close it once again the closer. Final score: 19-7 for the red and white.
Always on the cairese diamond good performance of the Under 18 team which rips an important one victory with the same age of the Grizzlies Torino. The red and white line up with Bussetti and Davide Torterolo in the battery, Castagneto on first base, Garra and Franchelli central hinge, Buschiazzo in defense of the hot corner while Rozio, De Bon and Leoncini on the external field. We got off to a great start with Garra and Franchelli on the basis pushed to the point by the hits of Torterolo, Bussetti and Rozio for the first three points. At the fifth inning the scoreboard moves and the Piedmontese catch up with the result which reads 6 to 6, the battery is changed as per regulation and it’s up to Buschiazzo and Garra, while Ricchebuono takes over from the outside.
The two teams face each other openly until the end of the regular innings, so much so that we have to resort to the tie-break, where the beautiful play Davide De Bon-Garra becomes decisive, ending with the elimination at home base; equally decisive in attack is De Bon’s loss of sacrifice which becomes a valid one and weighs on the Piedmontese defense that ends up yielding. Cairese wins 13-12. “A good test of character with some flaws, but with a lot of heart” is the comment of the technicians from Cairns.
Double commitment also for the Under 15 cadets, which despite being out of the table give life to two good matches winning in Mondovì and in Sanremo with the same script: Chiarlone’s flawless performance for four rounds on the mountain in battery with Mascarino, Bussetti in first, Bogazzi in second base, Garra in shortstop, in third Buschiazzo and outside Leoncini, Rozio and Petianu, which give life to a very disciplined defense despite the many experimental solutions due to absences. In attack the usual Garra, Bussetti, Buschiazzo and Mascarino dragged the team: to report the hits of Petianu, more and more at ease in the batting box. In Piedmont the red and white win 4-13; on the field of Matuziani for 8-12.
