In the heat of the Palau Blaugrana, bubbling despite a reduced gauge, Barcelona clinched the 19th title in their history, the first since 2014. Facing centuries-old rivals Real Madrid, the Catalans played in the second leg of the La Liga finals ACB (92-73), relying on the talent of Nikola Mirotic (27 points at 8/11 of success on shots, including 3/5 at 3-points for 35 evaluation in 23 minutes of playing time) . Logically voted best player in the finals, the Spanish international broke his points record this season.
His compatriot and friend, Pau Gasol (2.13m, 41) won his second Liga ACB, twenty after lifting the title of MVP of the finals. Despite his advanced age, the two-time NBA champion (2009, 2010) was invaluable in the path to blaugrana success (11 points and 6 rebounds in 20 minutes). As the victory unfolded, Barcelona coach Sarunas Jasikevicius called on the legendary interior in the dying minutes. Acclaimed by the Catalan public, the Spaniard may have played his last game of his club career. He will normally be present at the Tokyo Olympics (July 25 – August 7), with La Roja.

Westermann continues its harvest of titles on the Old Continent
The former ASVEL and Limoges leader, Léo Westermann (1.98 m, 28 years old), who landed from Fenerbahçe last winter, played three minutes in match 2. But this national coronation is already the eighth of his career, after the Serbian League with Partizan Belgrade (2013, 2014), the Adriatic League (2014), France with Limoges (2015), Lithuania with Kaunas (2017, 2019) and the VTB League with CSKA Moscow ( 2018).
It is a double for Barcelona who won the Copa del Rey, already beating Real Madrid in the final, last February. On the other hand, Sarunas Jasikevicius’ team failed in the EuroLeague final. Real Madrid of Fabien Causeur (6 points to 2/6 in 17 minutes) and Vincent Poirier (4 points to 2/5 and 6 rebounds in 11 minutes), who has however won nothing this season, will want to come back stronger in 2021-2022 with undoubtedly other French players in the workforce (Thomas Heurtel and perhaps Guerschon Yabusele).
