Azerbaijan National Paralympic Team Gets 11 More Licenses for Tokyo 2020

The Azerbaijan National Paralympic Team has obtained 11 more licenses for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympic Games. Six male and five female athletes with high results in qualifying competitions obtained the right to participate in Tokyo 2020, according to the National Paralympic Committee of Azerbaijan, reports AZERTAC.

In men’s competitions Azerbaijan will be represented by Vugar Shirinli (60 kg), Namig Abasli (66 kg), Ramil Gasimov (73 kg), Huseyn Rahimli (81 kg), Kanan Abdullahanli (100 kg) and Ilham Zakiyev (100+) .

In the women’s competitions, Shahana Hajiyeva (48 kg), Basti Safarova (52 kg), Sevda Valiyeva (57 kg), Khanim Huseynova (63 kg) and Dursadaf Karimova (70+ kg) will climb the mat.

At the Rio 2016 Paralympic Summer Games, Azerbaijan was represented by 6 men and 1 woman, with a total of 7 paradjudo players.

Thus, the number of licenses of the national Paralympic team for “Tokyo 2020” reached 31, of which 11 were obtained in judo, 8 in athletics, 4 in taekwondo, 3 in swimming, 3 in power lifting and 2 in shooting. with bullet.

It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team was the owner of 22 licenses for the XV Rio 2016 Summer Paralympic Games.
