(Houston) Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman was placed on the injury list for 10 days on Thursday with a strained left quadriceps.
Bregman was injured in the first inning of a win over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday when he ran to first base to avoid a double play. He appeared to be injured a few paces from first pad and he limped on. the field before going to the locker room.
Astros manager Dusty Baker mentioned that there is no deadline for a return to play yet.
“We really don’t know,” said Baker. He is examined by the doctors. Even when they reveal the nature of the injury to us, we don’t know if he will be out of the game for a long period of time. ”
Bregman has maintained a .275 batting average with seven homers and 34 RBIs this season.
Receiver Garrett Stubbs has been recalled from the AAA level to take his place in the roster.
