An unlikely draw from the Union

Delayed by two goals with less than ten minutes to go, the Philadelphia Union was able to deliver a 2-2 draw at Atlanta United FC on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

A minute after the opponent doubled his priority, Cory Burke cut Atlanta’s lead in half by grabbing a return throw. Defender Jakob Glesnes completed the comeback in stoppage time in the second half. His shot from far away, which could fit into the discussion for Major League Soccer (MLS) Goal of the Year, made its way into the opposing net while hitting the crossbar on three occasions.

Following an uneventful first half, the home side took the lead on a fluke. Brooks Lennon sent a corner kick into the penalty area in the 58th minute and the ball was redirected by forward Kacper Przybylko into the back of his own net.

In the 83rd minute, Lennon took a corner kick again, to no avail. However, the ball quickly returned to his feet and he centered a second ball finding the head of his teammate Anton Walkes, who took the opportunity to double the lead of his team.

Andre Blake stopped five shots for Philadelphia, two more than his opposite Brad Guzan.
