“These successes come from many hours of work in the gym both on a technical and athletic level – said the Akiyama Settimo coach, Massimo Toniolo – we still have a lot to do, but we continue to go our own way. Today we have shown that despite the disastrous period we have behind us, we are continuing to work well. There is certainly still a lot to improve “

Rome, 13 June 2021 – In Samokov, Bulgaria, everything is ready for the European Cadet Championships in freestyle, women and Greco-Roman: it starts tomorrow, Monday 14, and ends on Sunday 20 June.

The Italian national team starts with 14 athletes, of which 8 between freestyle and Greco-Roman and 6 for women. Here are the players called: Danny Lubrano (60 kg), Mattia Bienintesi (65 kg), Raul Caso (71 kg) and Gabriele Niccolini (80 kg) for freestyle; Salvatore Giovanni Materis (51 kg), Elia Caresia (55 kg), Riccardo Crimi (80 kg) and Tommaso Virgilii (92 kg) for Greco-Roman; Immacolata Danise (53 kg), Bianca Contrafatto (57 kg), Francesca Lobascio (61 kg), Elena Nicolodi (65 kg), Fabiana Dattilo (69 kg) and Yvette Valentini (73 kg) for women.

The blue delegation is completed with coaches Daniel Franchi, Riccardo Niccolini, Massimiliano Saglietti, Igor Nencioni, Daniele Niccolini and referee Michele Scafidi.

Tomorrow, from 11:30, Mattia Bientinesi and Gabriele Niccolini will be in the race. You can see the live streaming of the entire event on the UWW website.
Tricolor juniores in Velletri, on the podium Akiyama, Accademia and Banzai
Akiyama Settimo, Accademia Torino and Banzai Cortina climbed in order to the podium in Velletri, on the occasion of the men’s junior national final in which 187 athletes took part.

“Surely today the race ended earlier than the cadets last week – said the Akiyama Settimo coach, Pierangelo Toniolo – slowly improving and this must be an imperative, to solve the problems that arise and, maybe, they are not been foreseen “.

-Where do you find the motivations to get to the top step of the podium every time?

“As far as motivations are concerned, it’s a speech that has lasted for 25 years and that has made history, but I think that if you do your job well, the kids are stimulated, they find confidence and if you can teach judo the results come out. So it’s just a question of trust and if the kids have it, the results come. You can make a mistake, but it’s normal, you work and try to correct ”.

Sunday is the day reserved for the women’s categories, the start of the races is scheduled for 9.30 and, as happened today, the absence of the wi-fi connection in the sports facility does not allow streaming and was therefore prepared a deferred of the final stages on the YouTube FIJLKAM page.

World Cup, tomorrow in Budapest the Mixed Teams Event

Seventh day in Budapest and the world championship awarded the last individual categories and, in the Laszlo Papp Sports Arena, +78 and +100 kg the respective gold medals were awarded. The eighth and final day scheduled to be played tomorrow, the one reserved for the Mixed Teams Event, a formula approved by the IOC which will award the fifteenth gold medal for the first time in Tokyo. Participation in the Mixed Teams Event is reserved for nations that have managed to individually qualify athletes sufficient to cover the categories: -57, -70, +70 F and -73, -90, +90 M.

It should be pointed out that IJF will give the official communication of the qualifiers for the Olympics in the next few days (within next week), taking the time to carry out all the necessary checks and register any waivers.

The evaluations that Francesco Bruyere proposes in the comment that follows are obviously supported by the calculations and evaluations that all the federations are making, but are in turn awaiting official confirmation.

“The world championship has ended and with it also this very long and troubled Olympic qualification – commented the blue coach Francesco Bruyere – and we return home with Manuel’s silver medal, 8 qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and with the team also qualified for the Mixed Team Event which will be played for the first time “.

“I think this is an excellent result, not so much for the number of qualified players, but for the level reached by these athletes and for the real chances of a medal that each of them has. It was a long journey that began 5 years ago under the guidance of DT Kyoshi Murakami, who saw these guys grow and mature to become established champions in their respective categories ”.

“Today, looking back, they seem to have flown by, and it is difficult to remember all the road traveled together. It was certainly not an easy path, these athletes laughed, suffered, fought, quarreled, cried and rejoiced together, they had experiences that will remain theirs forever and have become a strong and united team “.

“And I’m sure they will arrive in Tokyo thirsty for victory and determined to win their place in the history of judo.”

“I take this opportunity to thank, together with all my colleagues, all the people who are and have been part of this journey: Kiyoshi Murakami, Dario Romano, Luigi Guido, Laura di Toma, Roberto Meloni, Luca Poeta, Alessandro Comi, Felice Romano, India Previato, all the medical staff, Fabio Fanton, Stefano Bonagura, Giovanni Di Francesco, Barbara Deconno, Angelo Angi and all the physiotherapists who have followed us in this period ”.

“Thanks to the sports groups, clubs and their respective technicians who contributed to this great result”.

“Thanks to President Falcone, to the general secretary Benucci and to all the employees of the Federation who every day contribute to making all this possible”.

“We are in the final act, what we have worked for, the best is now and we, as always, will be ready to give a show”.
