‘Luca’

Tomato red vespas, a lot of gesticulation and a singing accent. Pixar’s latest is set on the Italian Riviera. At the center is the sea monster Luca, who loses his fish body as soon as he comes ashore, but is actually not allowed to go there by his parents. A story about being different and getting older. It’s hard to understand why this film didn’t get a spot in the cinema.

‘Golden Earring, Making Tits ‘n Ass’

Gold records in the US, Janis Joplin who – figuratively – gave in to her knees and Aerosmith and Kiss who played their support act. Golden Earring is perhaps the biggest rock band from the Low Countries. The documentary makers were there during the creation of their record ‘Tits ‘n Ass’ from 2012. Due to the ALS diagnosis of George Kooymans (73), the band called it quits in 2020 after sixty years.

‘The Handmaid’s Tale’

The fourth season of the acclaimed series ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ has just come out and can be viewed with us via Proximus Pickx. But for the second you can still go to Canvas. That season is certainly as good as the first, but possibly even more grim. Beforehand, it seemed impossible to translate author Margaret Atwood’s murky future into a series, but Bruce Miller did it and can no longer count the Emmys on two hands.
