we take stock of a historic night for the Nets

Winner of the Celtics last night, the Big Three of the Nets has multiplied individual and collective records whether for the franchise or at the League level. We therefore decided to go through all the databases to summarize all this in a few figures so that you can measure the extent of the damage and what awaits (perhaps) other teams in the coming weeks.

Generally, when we start on a record paper, we often talk about a player who has come out of the woods and hit an individual record for his team or, more gloriously, for the League itself. The problem is that the stars tend to multiply among the Nets and the lines to be rewritten also at the same time. It didn’t take them too long to find a place in the sun in the history books of men in black. We’ll let you judge for yourself.

Kevin Durant

Stats: 42 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 interception, 2 blocks at 14/20 shooting, 3/3 from the parking lot and 11/11 on the throwing line.

James Harden

Stats: 23 points, 18 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 blocks with 8/12 shooting, 2/5 from the parking lot and 5/6 on the throwing line.

Kyrie Irving

Stats: 39 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals, 11/24 shooting, 6/12 from the parking lot, and 11/11 on the throwing line.

Individual records

  • Kevin Durant became the first player in Nets history to score more than 35 points in consecutive Playoff games.
  • He also joined Vince Carter as the only player in the franchise to score three games over 30 points in a single series.
  • With 42 points, KD becomes the second leading scorer in Nets history in a Playoff game behind Vince Carter. (43)
  • James Harden became the only player in Nets history to make a game with at least 20 points and 15 assists in the postseason.
  • With 18 assists, the Bearded Man also takes second place among the Nets’ best assistants in the Playoffs behind Jason Kidd (19).

Collective records

  • 104 points scored between them: a record tied for the most prolific trio in a Playoffs match. (tied with: Dominique Wilkins-Spud Webb-Randy Wittman for Atlanta and John Havlicek-Jo Jo White-Dave Cowens for Boston)
  • The Nets become the second team in history with two players over 35 points over several consecutive Playoff games. (Harden + Durant in Game 3 and Irving + Durant in Game 4) The other was the Lakers Elgin Baylor and Jerry West.
  • Best point average in history for a trio in a series of Playoffs (in progress) with 85.9.
  • Franchise record for the number of points scored in a Playoffs match. (141)

The clover brought good luck to Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden. After the magnificent performance on the floor of the legendary TD Garden, the three stars have offered themselves a few more pages in the great history of the NBA and it may be far from over. Now that the machine is up and running, we are preparing to have to repeat this kind of paper. Lovers of stats, here you are in paradise!
