Verweij: ‘Ajax will certainly try to make it to Bergwijn’

Mike Verweij and Valentijn Driessen, Ajax watcher and football chief of The Telegraph, have given an update about Ajax on the transfer market. Steven Bergwijn seems like a serious option for the Amsterdam club, but only when own players are sold.

‘Ajax is in the market for Bergwijn, but I think it is very expensive. If he can leave at all SpursVerweij said in the newspaper’s football podcast. “Maybe Ajax will eventually end up with a cheaper alternative, but they will certainly try to get Bergwijn.”

“I have heard that he is definitely on one to pick up as an attacker,” adds colleague Driessen. “Ajax thinks it can collect him for 15 million euros, but the asking price will be at least 25 million euros.”

Before an attacker can be brought to Amsterdam, players first seem to have to leave. David Neres is on the nomination, but there seems to be a lot of interest in Lassina Traoré, Verweij knows. Lokomotiv Moscow has officially reported, and so has Atalanta. He has put those clubs in the waiting room, because there are more clubs. Ajax hopes to receive an amount of more than ten million euros for him, possibly with bonuses. ‘
