‘Van Weert leaves Denmark and signs with new club’

Tom van Weert played in Denmark at Aalborg BK for the past three seasons, but has found a new club. The thirty-year-old striker is going to Greece, where he is committed to Volos FC.

That reports the Brabants Dagblad. Van Weert has scored 27 goals in 81 league games at Aalborg. Reportedly there was also interest from the Netherlands, but Van Weert opts for Greece. Volos FC plays in the Super League, the highest level in Greece.

Van Weert runs into fellow countryman Daan Rienstra. He has completed his first season with the club, scoring two goals in 31 games. Rienstra has a history at RKC Waalwijk and Heracles Almelo.

Van Weert played six seasons in the Netherlands for FC Den Bosch, two for Excelsior and three for FC Groningen. He left the Netherlands in 2018.
