UNAM will resume sports activities from May 31

The sport within the National Autonomous University of Mexico will return to activity in a staggered manner from May 31, where mainly for now it will be mainly in open spaces of the university facilities and under the proper use of the mask and the practice of a healthy distance .

The representative teams of the UNAM that will return to their sports practices in outdoor venues are: Athletics, dance and sports dance, basketball, baseball, boating, cycling, diving, flag football, fronton, association football, fast soccer, handball, lacrosse, finswimming, swimming, artistic swimming, water polo, cheers and cheer, rowing, rugby, softball, tennis, archery, triathlon, ultimate, volleyball and yoga.

In addition, adapted sports will also return in the disciplines of athletics, basketball, swimming and archery, while contact sports will only carry out physical conditioning activities.

Regarding the sports venues that have a closed space, the UNAM reported that they will provide service with reduced capacity, at staggered hours, only for the use of the representative teams of the UNAM, observing all sanitary measures, and without enabling the use of showers and dressing rooms.

Thus, after 14 months of confinement, UNAM will once again have sports activity in its facilities, however, since the beginning of the quarantine, 3,421 representative athletes from the university institution maintained constant activity through virtual distance training sessions.

UNAM also announced that the Directorate of Sports Medicine, dependent on the General Directorate of University Sports, will also return to face-to-face care with medical examinations, consultations, treatments and rehabilitation for representative athletes of the institution.
