Ulbroka floorball players lose in the first games of the quarter-finals, Kekava team wins

Both Pieriga men’s clubs played in the first games of the Latvian floorball championship quarter-finals series over the weekend. “Ķekava” won the Talsi NSS / “Krauzers” floorball players in a dramatic battle, but the “Apelsīns / Oxdog Ulbroka” team lost to the “Lielvārde / FatPipe” team in their field. The series runs to two victories.

For Ulbroka floorball players (2nd place in the main league main tournament) Sunday’s game against Lielvārde (7th) starts on a positive note – already in the 3rd minute Matīss Tepers put the hosts in the lead, but in the last minute of the first third Kristers Eglītis doubled the lead. At the beginning of the third period, Niks Ķuzulis increased the lead to 3: 0, and it could seem that the people of Ulbrok were already victorious in their pockets.

But then in five minutes the guests threw three goals into the goal and equalized the result, three minutes later took the lead, but 13 seconds before the end threw the ball into the empty goal and caused a painful loss to the “Orange / Oxdog Ulbroka” floorball players 3: 5.

The first game of the quarterfinals in Talsi, where the team of the regional sports school / “Krauzers” (4th place) hosted “Ķekavu” (5th), was atypically ineffective. In the regular time, the competitors managed to score only one goal – Klavs Jansons put the guests in the middle in the second third, but the home team reached the level at the beginning of the third period.

The result of the extra ten minutes did not change and a series of post-match throws had to be completed. The people of Kekava made four throws in a row (Kristaps Laugulis, Artūrs Narogs, Klāvs Jansons and Renāts Degins threw exactly), but the people of Talsi made two mistakes and the victory was celebrated with a 2: 1 victory by Ķekava. Goalkeeper Robert Blumberg was naturally recognized as the best in the team, who repelled 20 shots.

The second and possibly last games of the quarterfinals are scheduled for June 4 in Ķekava and Lielvārde. If a third match is needed, it will take place two days later.
