The Latvian national football team is preparing for the Baltic Cup and the game against Germany

Dāvis Ikaunieks has participated in 11 Premier League games this season, however, he often goes to the substitution and has spent 598 minutes, which is less than 8 matches for Krišis Kārkliņš. This defender from Liepaja missed some games due to injury. In previous terms, Kārkliņš played mostly in the position of a support midfielder.

This season, Krišjānis Zviedris competed at the goal of Liepāja with the experienced Oleksandr Ribka, who has already left the club. This year, Swede has played 7 games in the Super League and 4 of them played dry.

Eduards Tīdenbergs, Ingars Sarmis Stuglis and Mārtiņš Ķigurs, who were previously called to the state unit and are recovering from an injury, have not entered the list of candidates.

Of course, Artūrs Karašauskas is not on the list of Daina Kazakevičs. He did not make it to the list of the head coach of “Liepāja” Dmitrij Mološ or in the game application in the last match of the Premier League.

Liepāja football students playing in other clubs – Roberts Ozols, Roberts Savaļnieks, Raivis Andris Jurkovskis, Jānis Ikaunieks and Vladimirs Kamešs – have also been invited to join the national team. However, there is no Krister Tobera, who regularly played in the position of center defender in the top league of the Polish Football Championship just last season.

Lithuania and Estonia will meet in the first game in Vilnius on the first day of June, on Friday, June 4, Latvia will host Lithuania at the Daugava Stadium in Riga, and on Thursday, June 10, ours will visit Tallinn, where they will meet the Estonian national team.

In the middle between these matches 11 vilki On the evening of June 7, they will fight Germany in a test match in Düsseldorf. For the 12th place team in the world ranking, it will be the last test before the European Championship, which F death In the group, German opponents will be France, Portugal and Hungary.

Latvia last met with Germany back in 2004, when in the final of the European Championship, probably only the decision of the referees not to award at least one 11-meter penalty kick to the German goal saved our titled opponents from an even more unfavorable result than 0: 0, which ended the match.

Latvia has triumphed in the Baltic Cup four times in a row, seven times from the last ten competitions, as well as a total of 13 times. Lithuania has 10 successes, but Estonia has won the 1st place only three times, and the last time was long ago – in 1938.

Four times – in 1992, 1998, 2014 and 2016 – the Baltic Cup also took place in Liepaja. For the first two times, Lithuanians triumphed here, but in the tournaments that took place in this century – Latvia.

However, the game of the tournament had already been changed, and the 2014 tournament was hosted by Liepāja and Ventspils, but from 2016 the competition matches will take place in all three Baltic cities.
