The list of the Czech national hockey team for the World Championships in Riga no longer has a vacancy. The last, 28th, was Liberec goalkeeper Petr Kváča on Friday morning. Head coach Filip Pešán thus has three goalkeepers and 25 field players available in the Latvian capital.
The 23-year-old native from Brandýs nad Labem, who less than three weeks ago won the Rights Award for the best goalkeeper of the last extra-league season, will add the remaining two goalkeepers, Šimon Hrubec and Roman Will, to the list.
Kváča, who has been training with the national team since the beginning of the championship in Riga, has so far caught a single match for the senior national team and it turned out great. Three weeks ago, in preparation for the World Cup during the Euro Hockey Challenge against Slovakia in Prague, he helped to win 2: 1 with twenty-one successful interventions.
