Six associations have already committed to “Wassy land of Games 2024”.
Following the labeling of “Wassy land of Games 2024”, Alexandre Le Morvan, deputy mayor in charge of sports, organized, on Saturday May 15, at the town hall, a working meeting which brought together six associations including Vivre à Wassy ( zumba), Pawa (kayak), USWB (football), ASBW (basketball), Judo-club wasseyen and Wass’bad (badminton). This list is not exhaustive because several other associations should join the movement.
As Alexandre Le Morvan presented, this meeting was essentially dedicated to the preparation of Olympic Day, which will take place at the national level on Wednesday 23 June. In Wassy, it was decided to divide this exceptional event into two stages. Of course, the priority will be the official day, to promote the Olympic values on the basis of the three pillars “move, learn and discover”, during which a sports workshop will be organized specially dedicated to young people aged 6 to 18.
During this workshop, young people will be able to discover or rediscover the various sports activities practiced in Wassy at leisure. For this, two sites were selected: the gymnasium and the Leschères site. In the event that the group is too large, it is planned to set up a third place located at the Promenades. In addition, it was specified that these workshops will be carried out in accordance with barrier gestures.
If the official day is set for Wednesday, the organizers have decided to schedule a second day to take place on Saturday, June 26.
This second day will be aimed more particularly at all license holders of sports associations as well as elected officials, City officials and all those who wish to participate.
This second session will be organized around discovery workshops of the various associations involved in this national action.
By way of conclusion, Alexandre Le Morvan underlined that the goal of these two days is essentially to get to know each other and discuss sport.
