Sebastian Korda and a record with his father

Sebastian Korda’s title in Parma meant, in addition to his first ATP status, a new milestone in tennis history. He and his dad, Petr, became the third father-son duo to win trophies on the circuit.. Amazing.

His father, winner of 10 titles, lifted the first in New Haven in 1991, the year in which he also conquered the tournament in Berlin. Among the most prominent is the 1993 Grand Slam Cup and, without a doubt, the Australian Open in 1998, where he beat Marcelo Ríos 6-2, 6-2 and 6-2 in a historic final.

It should also be noted that Sebastian’s mother, Regina Rajchrtova, won 2 ITF singles titles and reached 26th place in the WTA rankings.

The Dent family is another of those that make up this list: first Taylor, the father, between 2002 and 2003, who reaped four titles; and then Phil, the son, who between 1971 and 1979 raised three glasses.

Chronologically, the first to do so were Ramanatham Krishnan, who won in Toronto in 1968, and his son Ramesh Krishnan, who between 1981 and 1982 won eight titles..

Thus, Korda’s victory against Marco Cecchinato sealed the great tournament of the American, who did not give away any set in the entire tournament and who, at 20 years old, raised his first trophy, after the frustrated attempt in Delray Beach, which was his only final so far, which he lost this year to Pole Hubert Hurkacz.
