Sea games …. from 4 to 8 June in Vasto with diving, beach and sport fishing

The event, now in its 18th edition, was presented in Rome in the Coni Hall of Honor in the presence of the president Giovanni Malagò. The Fipsas (Italian Federation of Sport Fishing Underwater Activities) will bring the 2021 edition into the water and onto the sand

(AGR) The 18th edition of the Sea Games was presented at the Coni Hall of Honor, an event that will have as its theater the beach of Vasto in Abruzzo from 4 to 8 June. The President of Coni attended the press conference, among others Giovanni Malagò, the President of the Abruzzo Region Marco Marsilio, the president of the Italian Federation of Sports and Underwater Activities Ugo Claudio Matteoli, the Councilor for Sport of the Abruzzo Region Guido Liris, Carlo Della Penna, Vasto Councilor for Sport, Francesco Landi Sports & Health Councilor, Enzo Imbastaro President of Coni Abruzzo.

THE EVENT-

Sport, health, disability: the winning formula of the summer returns and it does it in total safety in Vasto (Ch) where, between 4 and 8 June next, the Fipsas (Italian Federation of Sport Fishing and Underwater Activities) will bring in the water and on the sand the 2021 edition of the Sea Games. It will be the ‘first time’ for the Federation that will have as travel companions the Abruzzo Region, the Municipality of Vasto, the Port Authority Corps, the ASL2 of Chieti and Vasto and the Civil Protection. In the water and on the beach, challenges of great competitive level are planned thanks to a calendar designed to give results and entertainment in all the proposed competition fields. Great attention will be given to the world of the disabled who, in the land of Abruzzo, will be champions in spite of themselves in each of the specialties where they will compete.

Fipsas will therefore be the Federation of reference for the other Sports Federations that will decline their specific activities and great space will also be given to students with the ‘The search for talent’ format which will take place on 7 and 8 June.

TWO WORLD RECORD ATTEMPTS IN APNEA-

Between 4 and 6 June the beach of Vasto, its mirror of sea and its seabed will be the natural setting for the festival that will begin with two attempts to record the world in apnea. They will be Livia Bregonzio, Varese, multiple specialty champion e Ilenia colanero, in Lanciano, in its first attempt at international leadership among the disabled, to open the most intense sports week of the summer 2021, the first major event with various outdoor activities all carried out with the assistance in the water of the Coast Guard who will guarantee safety in the various water competition fields.

THE SPORT VILLAGE-

A real ‘sports village’ will be set up on the beach of Vasto where the password will be ‘safety’: all the necessary attention will be taken to make any physical activity possible following the anticovid protocols with spacings and masks when not is in the field, a grandstand dedicated to spectators with a capacity reduced to 25%. These rules will not prevent beach volleyball champions or table tennis athletes with the innovative TTX format from giving a show under the sun.

BEACH SOCCER, BEACH VOLLEY, BEACH RUGBY, BOCCE BEACH E BEACH BADMINTON

In the Arena Beach of Vasto, ‘signed’ by Postepay, Suzuki and Vastarredo, beach soccer (male, female and disabled), beach rugby (male and female), beach volleyball (male and female) will alternate will add an internship of the national junior women’s specialty; the Bocce beach field and the area dedicated to TTX where Abruzzo will be the starting point of the national summer circuit. Finally, there will be an appointment with beach badminton and the disabled children of FIBa. The Fipsas, for its part, will have a colorful dedicated space for all the many activities within the Arena Beach with swimming pools for fishing, marine ecology and technical launch.

PINNED SWIMMING AND SEA ACTIVITIES-

In the water, in addition to the attempts to record in freediving, the various specialty champions will arrive for the Cross-country finswimming competitions (able-bodied and disabled), Video Sub, Photo Sub, Safari Fotosub to which surfcasting, coastal trolling and the shore rod. The photographic and video sports activities will be of great value because they will be able to propose Abruzzo as a cutting-edge region, able to tell through sport a unique territory of its kind, giving value to the various initiatives put in place for the occasion.

THE HEALTH VILLAGE-

Great attention will also be given to health: in collaboration with the ASL2 of Chieti and Vasto, in fact, the Abruzzo Region will offer free cardiological screenings while the active collaboration with the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome, will bring Dr. Giuseppe Morino, Head of Clinical Dietology Unit, and his staff. The goal will be to create ‘taste itineraries’ for students from Abruzzo schools.

TWO DAYS DEDICATED TO STUDENTS-

The students will be the protagonists of the last two days of the Sea Games. Once the competitive activities are over, it will be them (on 7 and 8 June in close collaboration with the Regional School Office) who will try their hand at fifteen different disciplines in search of their own talent. With the help of Coni Abruzzo we will go from volleyball with Andrea Lucchetta to surfcasting with Fipsas technicians to get to beach soccer, table tennis, hockey and rugby. There will also be launch initiatives with rods, bowls, badminton and breathing techniques for finswimming.

Fipsas will also present two projects: one dedicated to children and the other to the over 65s.

PROJECT PRE.DI.SPO.NE.-

The PRE.DI.SPO.NE. – “We prevent addictions with sport, nature and active citizenship”, funded by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies is aimed at young people and activities in schools, aims at the prevention and recovery of pathologies related to forms of addiction, using the sporting practice of amateur fishing, freediving, fin swimming and scuba diving, outdoor activities and contact with nature to strengthen bonds with others and self-knowledge as an alternative to gambling and, more in general, employed.

PROGETTO ’SPRINTT FISHING’-

The ‘Sprintt Fishing’ Project – Impact of sport fishing on the prevention of frailties in over 65s, financed pursuant to art. 72 of the Third Sector Code is the result of a collaboration with the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, the University Department of Geriatrics and Orthopedics and Fipsas. It was created to encourage the promotion of sports activities among the over 65s and the full use of sports facilities and to promote the study, knowledge, dissemination, practice of sports and cultural aspects of Fipsas sports disciplines, through debates seminars, courses and events, in particular to support the well-being of the over 65s.
