Red Bull, also taken Cowell’s deputy in Mercedes – Formula 1

The project Red Bull Powertrains continues to take shape more and more. After the announcement by Christian Horner of the start of the activity for April 2022, more and more rumors are starting to emerge about the organizational structure of the engine department of the Milton Keynes team.

Red Bull Powertrains will therefore take on the role that Ilmor once had, representing a useful platform for manufacturers (the hottest names are Audi and Porsche) who will want to engage in Formula 1 in the future to achieve rapid success. The will is to refine this organization by exploiting Honda’s intellectual property and freezing engines until 2025.

In the meantime, the construction of the factory also continues: Horner has confirmed that he has already ordered seven test benches, but they are already there Honda facilities and equipment ready to arrive in England from Japan. Regarding the latter, these are mainly test equipment and production machines for electrical components.

Red Bull-Hodgkinson: a new shot at Newey

In addition to this, the recruitment of qualified technical personnel continues. In recent weeks, the hiring of six Mercedes engineers, including Ben Hodgkinson, who for 20 years has been an integral part of the team of Mercedes technicians who take care of the engines first and of the power units from 2014 onwards.

As reported by Auto Motor and Sport, another six transfers seem to be a done deal, with the aim of reaching about 50 engineers and technicians to snatch from direct competition until the start of the business. Among these there should also be sensationally l’ex vice di Andy Cowell in Mercedes.
