Piacenza Baseball in search of the first victory: Ares Milano arrives at De Benedetti

After two away games it is finally time for the debut on the home field for the Piacenza Baseball. Sunday 30 May, always behind closed doors, the red and white will host at De Benedetti l’Ares Milano with the first launch of race one scheduled for 11 am, while race two will start at 3 pm.

Piacenza is still looking for the first victory in the championship and the best opportunity presents itself right on the home diamond. But beware of the opponents: closed 2020 in the last position of the classification of group A, the Milanese are showing in these first outings that they have changed pace: after two defeats suffered in both cases by a single point by Poviglio in the advance of the May 15th, last Sunday Ares easily beat Fossano in both matches, winning the victory for clear superiority both in race one and in race two.

A very young team, but also rich in talent: many athletes on the roster competed in the Under 18 National Finals last October. Participation in the 2020 Serie B Championship may have helped these young players to accumulate the necessary experience to compete on an equal footing with their opponents this year. The results of last Sunday could support this hypothesis. Marenghi’s boys absolutely have to shake off the disappointment of four very narrow defeats and convince themselves that they have played on par with teams that are always difficult to face. Working on mentality during the week, the coaching staff has the task of increasing the level of self-esteem of individual players to make them aware of the fact that with a little more effort the negative trend can be reversed.

As for injuries, Paolo Cetti will again be unavailable due to the muscle problem he suffered last Friday during training; Simone Carnevale will return instead, who will thus be able to face his former 2020 teammates in the Under 18 category. Finally, uncertainty about the conditions of the receiver Luca Gardenghi: under treatment to try to reabsorb a strong bruise on his right shoulder remedied last Sunday in Codogno, he hopes to solve the problem in record time.

THE U12 IN THE FIELD AGAINST JUNIOR PARMA – Resting the under 14 (who will fill the break by facing the Sala Baganza in a friendly away match on Sunday morning), among the Piacenza Baseball youth teams over the weekend it will be only the under 12 who will have league commitments. The red and white, returning from a victory and a defeat so far, will host Junior Parma on Saturday (Montesissa field starting at 5.30 pm). The winning intentions of the Piacentini will clash with the technical qualities of an opponent who demonstrated his technical depth in the first few days. It is no coincidence that Junior Parma represents one of the most prolific youth sectors in the ducal city. It will therefore be a good test for the young red and white team called to confirm its progress.
