Jordan Spieth is not idle and does not seem to intend to stop. After a round of 63 Thursday from the start, the American added a score of 66 to bring his cumulative to -11 and take the lead in the Challenge Charles Schwab on his own.

For a second day in a row, Spieth avoided the bogeys and this time collected four birdies.

Spieth is looking for a second victory in this unexpected dream season. He has positioned four times in the top-10 in his last five tournaments.

He is closely followed by Jason Kokrak, who is second at -10 overall.

Spieth will also have to keep an eye on a Canadian for the weekend’s rounds as Adam Hadwin continued his good work with a round of 67. His cumulative -7 puts him in 6th place, four shots off the lead.

Canadians Corey Conners and Nick Taylor have a cumulative -3 record. Conners handed in a card of 67, while Taylor handed in a score of 66.

Mackenzie Hughes missed the weekend rounds by just one stroke. Michael Gligic will not be there either.

The most recent PGA Championship champion Phil Mickelson couldn’t shake his tough 73 round on Thursday and he will be out of the weekend’s rounds.

Everything seemed to be going well for Lefty who posted a round of -3 with three holes to play. Mickelson, however, stumbled with two bogeys on his last three holes and missed the cut with one stroke.

Conversely, Charley Hoffman had an exceptional round of -8 on Friday, which allowed him to come close to four shots from the head. After a 71 card on Thursday, Hoffman handed in no less than nine birdies, so four on the last five holes.

Justin Thomas has avoided the bogeys for the 51st time in his career and handed in a 66. This is his 102nd score of 66 or better on the tour since 2012, which puts him in 4th place. It shows a cumulative of -2.

Scott Piercy was disqualified after signing an incorrect scorecard after the round.
