The organization of the Tour of Italy has imposed a penalty on Peter Sagan for misbehaving during the 18th stage.
Sagan has to cough up 1,000 Swiss francs (913 euros) and loses 50 UCI points for “intimidation and inappropriate behavior” towards some other riders in the peloton. However, there are no images of the incident, but the wearer of the purple points jersey did not mention it himself after the ride and on his social media.
In the meantime, L’Equipe reports that the ex-world champion is negotiating with Total – Direct Energie. According to the French sports newspaper, bicycle brand Specialized would like to continue with Sagan and therefore want to provide the team of, among others, Nikki Terpstra with bicycles.
In addition to the French team, two WorldTour teams would be interested in the Slovak, but according to L’Equipe Deceuninck – Quick-Step is not one of them.
