Peruvian basketball: steps are being taken to reactivate the sport in Villa El Salvador and La Videna | Basketball | Basket | FULL-SPORTS

This Wednesday, the Legacy Project met with the members of the Basketball League from Lima, in order to initiate efforts to reactivate this discipline at the national level; also work for their reintegration into international competitions.

This meeting, held at the Athletic Stadium of the National Sports Village (VIDENA), was attended by the executive director of the Special Pan American and Parapan American Games Legacy Project, Alberto Valenzuela; the head of the Lima Basketball League, Percy Acosta Tamayo; the vice president of the League, César Eyzaguirre; and the head of the technical unit, José Basile.

As part of the sports reactivation plan, the Legacy Project will sign an agreement with the Lima Basketball League in the coming days, facilitating the use of the Villa El Salvador Sports Center, with the slogan that athletes resume their professional activities in the short term .

In addition, as part of the agreement, athletes will be able to train at the National Sports Village (VIDENA), headquarters administered by Legado, adjusting to the biosafety protocols, established by the Ministry of Health and the Peruvian Institute of Sports (IPD).

In this way, about 10,000 athletes, belonging to the different categories, will be able to prepare and compete from the Pan-American venues administered by the Legacy Project.

In this framework, it is projected that athletes will begin their preparation in June of this year. Meanwhile, it is estimated that national basketball will enter the competitive phase in August, necessary for the selection of selected ones that would represent us internationally.

In turn, the president of the Lima Basketball League, Percy Acosta Tamayo, expressed his optimism for the return of sports activities in this discipline and thanked Legado for providing access facilities to the remodeled and built venues for Lima 2019 .
