One of the strongest players in the Cuban baseball team has escaped the team’s retirement in the United States

The Cuban Baseball Federation said last Wednesday that 22-year-old Cesar Prieto, one of the strongest players in the country, he left the national team a few hours after the team arrived in the United States for an Olympics qualifier match. The Cuban delegation, made up of about forty players and the technical staff, had obtained a visa to reach Florida on Tuesday, after a complex mediation intervention by Cuban diplomats.

It is not known if Prieto decided to run away to try to get a contract with one of the teams in the Major League, the North American baseball league. The Cuban federation blamed Prieto’s escape to the decision of the United States government to terminate the agreements intended to normalize the inclusion of Cuban players in the Major League circuit.
