The slide continues for the New York Yankees who took a sweep from the Detroit Tigers in a 6-2 loss on Sunday.

The New Yorkers have seen the Tigers sweep away their three-game streak and have now suffered five losses in their last six games.

The Tigers quickly took Yankees starter Michael King by storm. Nomar Mazara made it 2-0 for the Detroit side in the opening set with a double. As they led 3-0 in the third set, the Tigers saw Willi Castro add to their lead with a double that emptied the trails to add three points to the table.

King left the mound after just two and a third innings and was responsible for two of the four runs allowed.

For the Tigers, Tarik Skubal was much more successful in front of the Yankees hitters as he struck out eight players while allowing just three hits in six innings.

Late 6-2 with two outs in the ninth inning, Aaron Judge had the chance to level the score with one swing as the cushions were packed. However, he froze in front of the slippery of Michael Fulmer for the last withdrawal of the series.

The Yankees sit third in the East American Division with a 29-24 record.
