New York Mets pitcher Jordan Yamamoto has called on fans to stop targeting his wife, Madison, on social media.

Sunday, after a poor performance by the gunner, dozens of Internet users insulted his wife on Twitter. In a 5-1 loss to the Miami Marlins, the 25-year-old allowed five runs on six hits in four innings of work.

“I know Twitter isn’t always a nice place and some of you find it funny to annoy people, but don’t harass my wife! She’s not the one who plays baseball and wears the uniform, ”Yamamoto wrote on social media on Monday.

“Because I’m a professional athlete, I understand the pressure and what comes with it. Our families and spouses did not sign up for this. They don’t deserve this. Nobody deserves this! ”He added, before thanking the Mets supporters who stood up for his better half.

Madison Yamamoto also reacted to the wave of hate she received.

“Wow, Mets fans went from love to hate so quickly. As my phone explodes because of your nasty tweets, I just want to remind you that we are all human, ”she wrote on Twitter on Sunday evening.

Yamamoto is in his first campaign with the Mets, having previously worn the Marlins’ uniform. In two appearances on the hillock in 2021, he has maintained a 1-1 record and an earned-run average of 6.75.
