Les Bleues start with a loss at TQO in Austria

The results of the first day of the TQO, organized in Graz in Austria, are mixed for the French women. Opposed to the United States at the beginning of the afternoon, they held out for much of the meeting before breaking down against more powerful opponents (17-21).

Fortunately, Laëtitia Guapo and her teammates recovered well against Uruguay. Despite a sluggish start to the match, they largely took the lead to finally win without trembling (20-9).

Thanks to this success, the French women, reigning European champions, rose to third place in their group, behind the Americans and Germany. The first two teams will advance to the quarter-finals and will remain in the race for one of the three tickets to the Olympic Games.

The Blue match on Saturday against the Germans (11:30 am) is therefore likely to be decisive, before a meeting against Indonesia (1:30 pm), last in the group of the Tricolores.

The French men’s team got off to a good start

On Wednesday, the French men’s team began its TQO with two victories against Slovenia (19-17), third nation in the world and group favorite, then the Dominican Republic (21-7).

Antoine Eïto’s partners are at the top of their group and are off to a good start to reach the quarter-finals. They will face Qatar and then the Philippines on Friday in their last two group matches.
