Kyoung-Hoon Lee wins AT&T Byron Nelson tournament

For a second consecutive presentation, a South Korean golfer won the AT&T Byron Nelson tournament as Kyoung-Hoon Lee came from behind to win Sunday in McKinney, TX.

The winner was one stroke behind the leader, Sam Burns (70), before the fourth round. However, a final card of 66, six strokes below par, saw him take the lead over the American and pocket his first career PGA Tour title with a cumulative 263 (- 25).

Lee had to limit the damage at the end of the day and a rain delay of more than two hours made it difficult for players to complete the 18 holes. After bugging the 16th hole, he followed up with two consecutive birdies and put an end to Burns’ hopes. The latter concluded with three head shots.

“It was a long day for me and everyone here,” the champion told the Golf Channel network. However, I have only tried to be patient and positive. I didn’t want to be distracted by the rest and just played my golf. It has given me a lot of success. ”

A profitable decision

One of the highlights of Lee’s triumph actually came earlier in the week when he changed his putter, a move that will earn him an appearance at the next PGA Championship by virtue of his victory as well as access. in the top 100 of the world ranking.

“Yeah, it really helped me and I’m very happy about it, especially since I was bad on my puttings for several months,” he said. On the other hand, I hadn’t changed anything in my technique and instead chose to change sticks. ”

A quartet of South African Charl Schwartzel (68) and three golfers from the United States monopolized the third place at 267 (-21). Two Canadians have participated in the last two rounds, Roger Sloan (72) and Michael Gligic (68). They respectively finished 34e and 47e at 275 (-13) and 277 (-11).

Before the competition was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lee’s compatriot Sung Kang won the event in 2019. The other player from South Korea who took the tournament honors is Sangmoon Bae in 2013.
