Dhe Swiss rider Jason Dupasquier, who was seriously injured at the motorcycle world championship in Italy, died on Sunday. This was confirmed by a spokesman for the Careggi Hospital in Florence.
The 19-year-old from the German Prüstel team fell in a curve on Saturday during the Moto 3 qualifying race at the Mugello Motodrom. At least one subsequent driver should have touched or even rolled over him. However, the TV images cannot explain the course of the accident.
Brain damage and breast surgery
It is therefore not yet certain whether and how badly the descending Ayumu Sasaki and Jeremy Alcoba, who both also fell, hit Dupasquier. Alcoba reportedly caught the pilot who was already unconscious.
The Swiss man was flown to a hospital by helicopter after receiving treatment on the route for half an hour. An operation on the chest followed on Sunday night. However, he had also suffered severe brain damage.
