Garin celebrated his 25th birthday with a hard-fought victory over Londero at Roland Garros

The Chilean Cristian Garin (28th in the ATP ranking) He celebrated his 25th birthday this Sunday with a hard-fought victory over the Argentine Juan Ignacio Londero (100 °), 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (6) and 6-2, which allowed him qualify for second round at Roland Garros, in three hours and 10 minutes.

“Gago” got off to a slow start, losing an irregular first set and suffering an early break in the second, that made it seem that everything was very uphill, against a rival who comes with little confidence.

However, he began to show a good level and he recovered from a 3-2 against and ended up winning a second set that was not without difficulties later, given that five service breaks were accumulated between the two tennis players.

But, the most complex moment of the game came in the third set, since in a few minutes and with several unforced errors, Garin was surprisingly 4-0 down and with an opponent who only raised his level.

Despite this, the third-round defender in Paris was able to return to concentration and not only began to discount, but went back to 5-4 history in a matter of minutes, working a little more to close the set in a suffered tie break, in which he needed four set points to win it.

The last round was very comfortable for the national, who after his victory heard the song of “happy birthday” from the rostrum, from his team and some close ones.

Now, “Gago” will have to think about his next rival, the American Mackenzie McDonald, who in his debut beat Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) and 6-3, almost the same time as Garin (three hours and 11 minutes).
