For the young people of Caux Vallée de Seine, activities resume a few weeks before the holidays

The resumption took place on Friday, May 21, 2021, under monitored conditions. “We limit the periods of contact, each has a unique partner, the different levels do not intersect, we put the mask back on static moments of explanations”, lists Bruno Verdier, teacher at Snac Judo, in Saint-Antoine-la-Forêt. For his students, the question of the gauge will not pose a problem, because the dojo takes place in the immense gymnasium of the 4 bell towers, more than enough to space the 20 to 25 young people of each class.

Smooth recovery

The protocol, which recalls the one already exercised in January, was sent to parents. The following months, the dojo sent home exercises from videos, to “Keep the link”. Bruno Verdier is not worried about the recovery of young people, he thinks to see them all at least once a month. “We will resume slowly, he says nonetheless. Some have only done two months of judo ”. For the few remaining weeks, no question of hoping to progress, but rather to give a booster shot before next year.

At the CSG fencing from Port-Jérôme-sur-Seine, the situation is simpler for the 15 young athletes who have no direct contact. The sword guarantees a distance between the practitioners and the iron mask makes it possible to avoid wearing the sanitary mask. However, the idea is the same: maintain the link, reactivate the memory for four sessions before the holidays. “Beyond the sporting aspect, the human aspect is important”, underlines Pierre-Yves Bellego, president of the CSG fencing.

Adults waiting

For the ten adults, on the other hand, it will be necessary to be patient again. “We could only do the individual dances, and for two weeks …”, Sylvain Fleury, president of Rythmic Danse Club de Bolbec is not very enthusiastic about the idea. The Irish tap teacher was able to continue working remotely, but the pair dance lessons were not. The club, which exclusively receives adults, therefore decided to reopen only in September.

At the Caux Seine agglo conservatory, the students, like their teachers, are delighted to see each other again. “We find the pleasure of dancing together, the immediacy of the movement, the group dynamics”, launches Aude Berlin, professor and coordinator of the dance department. Classes resumed on May 20 for all minors who must dance masked, but also for instrument lessons and individual singing (also masked). The recovery is for 5 weeks. “Children were in demand”, assure Aude Berlin. “Adults too”, adds Danaé Matus-Echaiz, lyrical singing teacher. For major dancers and collective singing, it will be necessary to wait until July.

The link was maintained during these months of absence, via an online platform. “We encountered connection problems, impossible to coordinate sound and image. Everything takes longer ”, Danaé Matus-Echaiz analysis. In dance, too, everything has been tried to keep the body moving. Moreover, for lack of an end-of-year show, a small teaser should be filmed to highlight the work of the students.

Last September, registrations fell, especially for lack of new arrivals. There were 818 students instead of the usual 950. Faced with this year-round seesaw, prices have been reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The teachers are now waiting for the next step: to remove the mask.
