Félix Mory snatches victory in Sweden

Pushed into play off by local player Björn Hellgren, the French resident of the Challenge Tour won his second professional victory.

Thirteenth tournament on the Challenge Tour and first victory for Félix Mory (26) at the Dormy Open, which took place this week on the course of the Osterakers Golf Club in Akersberga, north of Stockholm (Sweden). Pushed into play off by the Swede Björn Hellgren, Mory (-15) had previously returned four well-made cards: 69-64-66-74, for a total of -15. Insufficient, however, as Hellgren caught up with him with a birdie on the final hole of the 4th round. Fortunately for him, the French then only needed to come back twice on the par 5 of the same 18 hole, in order to sign a final birdie signifying the sudden death of his opponent.

2nd success with the pros

The Northerner – he is from Villeneuve d’Ascq and grew up in Lille – thus won his second professional success after that obtained on the Golden State Tour in the United States, during the Temecula Open played in California last March. It is the first trophy won on the Challenge Tour by the 1127th player in the world, who lives all year round in Munich, Germany. Félix Mory signs the 89th French victory on the Challenge Tour.

“This is only my second victory as a pro. It really takes a lot of work and patience to get there and I’m happy to have come out on top, ”said Félix Mory after kissing the cup.

108th in the general classification of the Challenge Tour before the Dormy Open, Félix Mory has gained 98 places and is approaching an accession to the Grand Tour next season. He is now in 5th position on the Road to Mallorca, led by the South African Wilco Nienaber. The first fifteen of the classification are qualified directly for the first European division at the end of the year.
