Even heckled, Jazz regains control in Memphis | NBA

Traveling in Tennessee with the series tied (1-1), the Jazz got the best start. Rudy Gobert dominates in the paint with two offensive rebounds and Mike Conley has already set the sights from afar, it’s 13-5. Dillon Brooks, however, begins to heat up, both in his duel against Donovan Mitchell in attack, by going to cause faults. Ja Morant takes his wheel and brings Memphis back in the wake of Jazz.

That said, Royce O’Neale is very adept at 3/4 to 3-pointers. Jazz in general is skillful at 3-points (7/15), like Georges Niang who comes into play and shoots an arrow behind the bow. Utah goes 7-0 to widen their lead. Fortunately, De’Anthony Melton reduced the distance but Memphis missed his first quarter (34-22).

Ja Morant for the 360 °!

The Grizzlies are chasing the scorecard in the second quarter as well, with Utah at +12 behind Conley who seems to be finding his bearings in his old room. In front, Grayson Allen is trying to level with a 2/3 3-point, and Ja Morant may give us a 360 ° dunk on the counter attack, Memphis is still lagging behind. Frustration even mounts for Taylor Jenkins who takes a technique after a Brooks foul on Mitchell.

The same Brooks is also attacking Conley but the veteran point guard does not unwind, he takes the pressure before hitting his 4th 3-point shot of the game. It fights on all floors with Gobert and Valanciunas who send each other to the ground. The Jazz closed the first half at 11/25 at 3 points and kept a clear advantage (62-51).

Mike Conley keeps the pace and revives the 3-point hostilities as soon as he returns from the locker room. But Coach Jenkins’ message went well with Jonas Valanciunas, hood at the break, who finally receives balloons and capitalizes! The Baltic pivot chained 10 points in a few minutes. Memphis wakes up but Donovan Mitchell cools their ardor with a basket plus the fault against JJJ.

Donovan Mitchell « clutch »

The Grizzes still return to the assault with Grayson Allen making his 4th 3-point shot and Brooks continuing to attack the circle. The latter, however, got his 4th foul on a dribble start from Conley. Memphis returned to -5 but Bogdanovic wakes up and impels an 8-0 for the Jazz which remains at +11 before the last quarter, especially after a 3-point madness, on the bell of 24, from Jordan Clarkson in step- back (96-85).

The start of the last quarter is however all in favor of the locals. Dillon Brooks is still leading the charge, but he also takes his 5th fault! No problem, Allen takes over and an 8-0 turns into 13-2 with the former Jazz rookie who equalizes at 98 everywhere with 8 minutes remaining. Despite a big tap dunk from Gobert, and Conley who continues to score, Memphis takes his first advantage of the game behind Morant.

The Grizzes are riding a 22-9 but Donovan Mitchell, used sparingly throughout the game, will come out of his box in the clutch. He first scored a basket with the fault, then a 3-point full axis, and it launches a 14-2 from the Jazz which finishes strong. Gobert also goes out of his way, before inflicting a final block on Jackson. The Jazz All-Stars have finished the job: Utah regains its home advantage in Memphis (121-111).
