Dutch national team defender, Virgil van Dijk.
BOLASPORT.COM – The Dutch national team coach, Virgil van Dijk, mentioned 4 players who could fill the leadership vacuum due to the absence of the captain, Virgil van Dijk.
Virgil van Dijk’s name is not on the list of 26 Dutch national team players who will be included for EURO 2020.
On May 15, Virgil van Dijk had indeed expressed his desire to prefer to continue the recovery process rather than dropping in EURO 2020.
Van Dijk himself suffered a serious injury after being hit by a horror tackle by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in October 2020.
He had to enter the treatment room and was out for half this season to restore the condition of his right knee.

“I feel physically, it is the right decision that I have decided not to go to Euro 2020 and undergo my last phase of rehabilitation during the competition break,” said Van Dijk, quoted by BolaSport.com from Liverpool’s official website.
“So, the full focus will be on pre-season with the club and that is a realistic goal, so I’m looking forward to it.”
“Obviously I am very sad to miss Euro 2020, miss the European Championship and lead my own country there, but I have to accept it,” Van Dijk added.
The Dutch national team coach, Frank de Boer, admits that he hopes the defender will help strengthen De Oranje to win the title, at least competing in several matches.
