Ecuador reaches 14 medals, one of them gold, in the Judo Super Pan American Cup | Other Sports | sports

118 athletes from Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, the United States, Venezuela, among other countries participated.

The Ecuadorian judo team, which was made up of 30 athletes, won fourteen medals at the conclusion of the Judo Super Pan American Cup, which was held at the Arena Pacificard Voltaire Paladines Polo Coliseum.

118 athletes from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, the United States, Venezuela, Haiti, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Ecuador participated in the tournament.

The tricolor team hung a gold medal, five silver and eight bronze, also reached eight fifth places and five seventh places

The only golden metal of the tricolor team was reached by Bryan Garboa, in the 60 kilogram division, after beating his compatriot Juan Ayala in the final and after eliminating Kevin Ayala, also from Ecuador, in the semifinals.

In the first round, the only champion for Ecuador in the international tournament eliminated Mexican Juan Ramírez, to leave Ian Mendoza on the road in the quarterfinals and access the semifinals.

For his part, Juan Ayala, who had the opportunity to access the final, in the first round eliminated the Chilean Juan Cazares, in the round of 16 he defeated Santiago Cardoso, from Mexico, and in the previous round for the final he took Pepín out of the competition. Ecuador finalist

For her part, Edith Ortiz, who competed in the 63 kilograms, also agreed to the final, but was left with the silver medal after losing to the Mexican Katia Castillo; In the semifinals, the Ecuadorian defeated her compatriot Emily Loja.

For his part, Génesis Criollo also reached the final of the tournament, he did it at 78 kilograms, and fell to Omaría Ramírez, from the Dominican Republic.

Juan Ayala, who lost the 70-kilo final to his compatriot Bryan Garboa, took the silver medal.

Finally, the Ecuadorian Kevin Guaraca fell in the final of 73 kilograms against the Mexican Jorge Pérez.

The bronze medals for the tricolor team were reached by Sheccid Rivera, at 52 kilos, after losing in one of the semifinals to Fabiola Díaz, from Venezuela; Kevin Ayala lost in one of the 60 kilogram semifinals to champion Bryan Garboa.

Byron Guillén, in the 66 kg, also took the bronze after losing in one of the semifinals against the Mexican Robin Jara; Mathías Coronel reached another medal, in the 73 kg; Kevin Cuero, in the 90s; Cristián Saquinaula, in the 100; César Aguirre, in the more than 100 kilograms; and Sandy Ango, in the more than 78 kg of the ladies.

According to the Ecuadorian Judo Federation, Ecuador’s participation allowed it to place in fifth place with Lesly Valarezo, at 52 kg; Emily Loja, at 73; Rosa Uguña, in the 73; Bismarck de la Cruz, at 66; Pablo Arias, at 90; Darwin Mercado, at 100; Érick Barahona, in more than 100; and Jacqueline Ruano, in more than 78 kilograms.
