De Bruyne deliberately knocked out by Rüdiger? “Certainly consciously, but not intending to touch that way” | Sport

Champions LeagueWhat was supposed to be a high point in Kevin De Bruyne’s career suddenly turned into an anti-climax. A few minutes groggy and with tears from the field after a hard collision with Antonio Rüdiger. Was there any malice in the game, to the extent that the City captain was ‘kicked’ off the field? In the VTM studio, our analysts Mulder and Degryse do not think that the defender deserves red, but are mainly affected by the disconcerting images of KDB’s retreat.

57 minutes: Kevin De Bruyne bounces the ball to Mahrez and immediately wants to continue to receive a possible double pass. Rüdiger, one lump of German granite, spots the danger and steps aside in the course of De Bruyne to let our fellow countryman crash into him. With all its consequences: only after a few minutes of patching up, De Bruyne can leave the field in tears, his exit is inevitable. And hopefully without too much damage. Or the Red Devils again see a talisman, perhaps our largest, not quite fit at the European Championship.

Rüdiger didn’t hit or committed a foul … he can’t help the fact that he looks like a prison.

Jan Mulder

Did Rüdiger deserve red? “It is certainly a blow and deliberately done, but I don’t think there was any intention to hit Kevin that much,” says Marc Degryse. “It is an obstruction. De Bruyne is surprised, because he does not see Rüdiger and could not avoid it. That’s why the damage is so great. But this is not red now either. Just because the damage turns out to be so great afterwards does not mean that you have to give red. ”

Jan Mulder does not immediately get involved in the discussion, but mainly sticks to the sad images. “I find it worse that De Bruyne almost fell for dead. He ran into a wall. Rüdiger did not hit or committed a foul offense … he also cannot help the fact that he looks like a prison. ”

Mulder does not really understand what happened next. “As a doctor from Man City, you can see how badly De Bruyne is. Then you wouldn’t let him sit in the stands with a sponge for another 15 minutes, would you? He had to have a scan as soon as possible, have it examined by an ophthalmologist as soon as possible … That is not possible for a professional club like Manchester City? Well, I especially feel sorry for Kevin. He is the best in Europe and now it is just not quite right. ”
