Danish badminton gets full plate at the Olympics in Tokyo

Two players in men’s singles and a single participant in the other four categories.

These are the places that Danish badminton will get at the Olympics in Tokyo this summer.

In other words, Denmark will have participants in all five categories at the Games.

This was confirmed by the International Badminton Federation (BWF) on Friday, Badminton Denmark (BD) writes in a press release.

Badminton Denmark proposes that it is the players who have secured the places for Denmark, who will also be sent to Japan.

It is officially the Danish Sports Confederation (DIF), which is responsible for the selection of the Olympic athletes, but DIF usually complies with the recommendation from the respective special federations.

In that case, it will be Viktor Axelsen and Anders Antonsen who will be the two Danish men’s singles players at the Olympics, while Mia Blichfeldt will represent the country in women’s singles.

The men’s doubles will be with Anders Skaarup and Kim Astrup, Sara Thygesen and Maiken Fruergaard will play women’s doubles, while Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Bøje will be in mixed doubles.

Viktor Axelsen is the only player who has participated in the Olympics before. He did so in Rio in 2016, where he won bronze.
